About
We can help you connect with nature
and achieve the garden of your dreams.

We take pride in creating beautiful gardens and planters for our clients. To us, every project is an opportunity to teach and encourage a love for the natural world. Our clients care about sustainable gardening, but don’t have either the time or knowledge to create or maintain these spaces on their own. Whether you’re looking for a safe place for your children to play, a beautiful habitat that will attract pollinators and wildlife, or the opportunity to grow your own food, we can help you make your garden your own sacred space to enjoy!
Our Philosophy
Our signature style is naturalistic and informal with a perfect blend of wild and tame to showcase nature at it’s finest. Whenever possible we incorporate native plants that are adapted to our local conditions and require less maintenance and water to thrive. They also attract pollinators and provide habitat for birds and other wildlife. We strive to use organic gardening practices including chemical-free management of weeds and pests, and we believe in building soil naturally without the use of synthetic fertilizers.
What to Expect
Once you connect with one of our team members you will be advised which service to book. Whether it be a free estimate, a garden coaching session or design. Then you'll be added to the schedule. After your initial appointment we will walk you through each next step. We can't wait to hear your garden goals!

Madeleine Poling, Owner
Maddie brings her passion for gardening and the environment and more than a decade of expertise as an entrepreneur to Sacred Space Gardens which she founded in 2018. She was previously an educational farm manager in Northern California where she taught at-risk high school students to love nature through farming, gardening and caring for animals. In that role she also oversaw the vegetable plot and cared for the livestock.
In addition to 5-years of hands-on gardening and teaching experience, Maddie has completed the Master Gardener course through the University of Minnesota, and continues to take gardening classes whenever she can. Every year she teaches Composting 101 classes in the Twin Cities, where she emphasizes the importance of compost in the garden and for reducing greenhouse gasses. Maddie also offers online Gardening Courses.
Maddie is the mother of twin toddler girls named Flora and Fauna, dog mom to a border collie and chihuahua, and lives in St. Paul, Minnesota with them and her amazing partner, Toshio. Maddie and Toshio have started farming microgreens and mushrooms in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and they dream of starting a vegetable farm. You can follow along on their farming journey on their website Northland Farm.
Ally Lawrence, Office Manager
Ally enjoys gardening and growing food on her acre of land. Her role is incredibly important to ensure the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis. She will be scheduling your consultations, installs, and maintenance. Ally is amazing and we love her!
Our Crew
Our seasonal garden crew are passionate about our mission to educate and inspire a love for the natural world. They take pride in the work they produce and enjoy working outside with plants.

“My pollinator garden was overgrown and lacked definition. Maddie and her crew came in and made paths, mulched and created the wavy outside curve I had envisioned. Everyone was friendly and hardworking. I felt like they really cared about my space. I appreciated that Maddie would work with a design plan I had and we added our own ideas. She checked in with me each day as we made decisions together. This was a jumpstart for me to enjoy my garden again.”
